Prescribing joint co-ordinates during model preparation in OpenSim improves lower limb unplanned sidestepping kinematics

چکیده

Objectives Investigate how prescribing participant-specific joint co-ordinates during model preparation influences the measurement agreement of inverse kinematic (IK) derived unplanned sidestepping (UnSS) lower limb kinematics in OpenSim comparison to an established direct (DK) model. Design Parallel forms repeatability. Methods The UnSS 20 elite female athletes were calculated using: 1) DK (criterion) and, 2) two IK models; one with (IKPC) and without (IK0) prescribed marker registration phase OpenSim. Time-varying analyses performed using dimensional (1D) statistical parametric mapping (α = 0.05), where zero (0D) Root Mean Squared Error (RMSE) estimates used as a surrogate effect size estimates. Results Statistical differences observed between IKPC well IK0 kinematics. For models, mean over stance for three (3D) hip joint, 3D knee ankle flexion/extension (F/E) degrees freedom (DoF) 46 ± 40% (RMSE 5 5°), 56 31% 7 4°) 3% 2°) respectively. F/E DoF 70 53% 14 11°), 48% 8 7°) 100% 11°) Conclusions Prescribing improves model, previously published in-vivo

Prescribing Joint Co-ordinates during Model Preparation in Opensim Improves the Accuracy of Lower Limb Kinematics

The lower limb sidestepping kinematics of 20 elite female athletes were calculated using: 1) an established direct kinematic (DK) model (criterion) and, 2) two inverse kinematic (IK) models; one with and one without participant-specific joint co-ordinates prescribed during model preparation. The aim of this research was to determine whether prescribing joint co-ordinates influences the accuracy...

Altered Lower Limb Kinematics during Jumping among Athletes with Persistent Low Back Pain

Background. The kinematics of a controlled functional task in female volleyball athletes may be an interesting area of study. Therefore, investigating if there are kinematic changes in a jump landing jump task among female athletes with low back pain (LBP) may help therapists and trainers better prevent and/or rehabilitate LBP in athletes. Objectives. The purpose of this study was to examine l...

Gender differences in lower limb kinematics during stair descent.

The purpose of this study was to compare lower limb kinematics between genders during stair descent. Fifteen females and fifteen males who were healthy and active were included in this study. The lower limb kinematics (pelvis, femur and knee) in the coronal and transversal planes were assessed during stair descent at 30°, 40°, 50° and 60° of knee flexion. The study found that females showed gre...

Sterile Parts of Operating Gown during Lower Limb Joint Replacement Surgery

Background: The prevention of surgical site infection is one of the most concerning issues in operating rooms. Surgicalgowns are worn as one of the intraoperative strategies for infection prevention. The present study investigated whetherthe gowns remained sterile during the surgical procedure. Furthermore, this study examined which parts of the surgicalgown were more prone to...

An open source lower limb model: Hip joint validation.

Musculoskeletal lower limb models have been shown to be able to predict hip contact forces (HCFs) that are comparable to in vivo measurements obtained from instrumented prostheses. However, the muscle recruitment predicted by these models does not necessarily compare well to measured electromyographic (EMG) signals. In order to verify if it is possible to accurately estimate HCFs from muscle fo...
